Club Octagon Seoul: Is It Still Open, and Where to Go Instead

Club Octagon is most likely closed. Korean references list it as shut since 2020, and we found no dated news of a reopening (last checked 4 October 2026). If you want the kind of night it was known for, big-sound electronic music in Gangnam, there are clubs open now that play EDM, house and techno, and several of them take table bookings.

Is Club Octagon open in 2026?

Here is exactly what we could confirm as of October 2026:

• No closure notice from news or the club itself. We searched English and Korean news for a dated report of Octagon closing or reopening and did not find one.
• References list it as closed. Korean wiki entries and other Seoul club sites describe Octagon as shut since 2020, during the COVID-19 period. These are not news sources, so treat the date as unconfirmed.
• No reopening news either. Talk of a revival under the same name has circulated, but we found no dated report that it happened.
• Promoter pages still exist. Some promoter sites still advertise "Octagon" guest lists and tables. We could not match any of them to a dated reopening announcement.

So the honest answer: assume Octagon is closed unless you see recent, dated proof that it is open.

How to check Octagon's status yourself

1. Search "옥타곤 클럽" on Naver Map or Kakao Map and look at the listing status and the dates of the newest reviews.
2. Look at the date of the newest post on any official Octagon social account. A feed that stopped years ago tells you a lot.
3. Be careful with promoter pages offering Octagon tables. Ask for the street address and a recent photo of the entrance before you send anything.
4. Ask your hotel front desk to call. A Korean speaker can confirm in one minute.

What Club Octagon was known for

Octagon opened in 2011 in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam, in the basement of a hotel. A Korean newspaper described it in April 2019 as the largest club in the country, with room for about 3,000 people at once, and known for bringing in well-known DJs.

It was a regular in DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs poll in the 2010s. Musically it was an electronic club, EDM and house on a big sound system. That is the night most people searching for it are after.

Clubs in Seoul with a similar sound

No club open today is a copy of Octagon. But these venues, all listed on NightFlow, are tagged for EDM, house or techno. The music tags, areas and hours come from each club's NightFlow page.

Closest to the old Gangnam EDM night

Core Seoul is tagged lounge, EDM and techno, and opens Friday and Saturday from 22:00 to 05:00. Its page lists a ₩10,000 entry fee and notes entry may be limited when it is full.

Lion Super Club is a club-format EDM venue. It opens Thursdays from 22:00 and Fridays and Saturdays from 23:00. Entry is listed at ₩25,000 in advance or ₩30,000 at the door, with two drinks included.

Club Ace, near Sinsa, mixes EDM and hip-hop and opens Tuesday to Sunday from 23:00. Its page lists entry at ₩20,000 for men and free for women.

If you lean more house and techno

Frame Seoul (techno and EDM, 23:30 to 07:00) and MUSE SEOUL (house and techno, Friday and Saturday 22:00 to 05:00) are both in Gangnam. For both, plan on walking in and paying at the door (MUSE lists ₩10,000; Frame's fee varies by event).

Outside Gangnam, Cakeshop in Itaewon is tagged house and techno and opens Thursday to Saturday from 22:00. Entry is listed at ₩15,000 to ₩20,000 depending on the party.

If you want EDM in Hongdae

OCEAN in Hongdae is an EDM club that opens daily from 22:00 until 06:00, and until 07:00 on weekends. Hongdae is more casual and cheaper than Gangnam. See the full list on the Hongdae clubs page.

Tables, prices and the door in Gangnam

Gangnam is where a table matters most. On NightFlow, a Gangnam table has a minimum spend of ₩1,000,000 for the whole group, filled from the club's own drinks menu. At Core Seoul the cheapest set is ₩450,000, and at Lion Super Club and Club Ace the cheapest bottle is ₩350,000. The VIP tables page shows each club's menu prices.

When to go

Most Seoul clubs open around 22:00 and close around 05:00, but rooms rarely fill before 1am. If you have a table, arriving around midnight works well. Friday and Saturday are the big nights in Gangnam; several clubs above open only on weekends. Check opening hours before you head out.
